Removing Writer Information If Needed

There may be instances where you need to temporarily remove the writer information that now shows on songs. This information is stored in a database not in the chord pro song (there is no defined place for it – subtitle could be used as a stretch but it isn’t really right).

  1. You are creating your own song. Typically people do this by editing an existing song, clearing out the lyrics and putting in their own key, title, artist and song lyrics. Obviously the original writer information attached to  song no longer applies but you can’t easily remove it
  2. You are modifying an existing song but the song goes over the page and it is hard to reduce it. On some songs (especially medleys) there is a lot of writer information

So there is a new menu item in the Layout Menu – “Remove Writer”.   This toggles the writer information temporarily on and off. If you toggle it off then only the artist information shows from the chordpro source and you can change that in the EDIT facility (along with any other part of the song). This flows through to the Create PDF function. This is, of course, temporary and does not affect the underlying song and will not prevent the writer information appearing when that song is called up again by yourself or any one else.

Hope this is useful

  1. Note – Point 1 is talking about when people are creating their own song – not modifying an existing song – the writer should still remain displayed for songs that are simply modified.
