Attribution of Songs

When I first put the songbook together it was for me – I got tired of all the paper I was carrying around. It then became a bit of a hobby and I expanded it to cover the songs that we were doing in my local ukulele clubs. It was never intended for publishing around (it was just a Word document that I converted to PDF).

Like a lot of beginning uke players I was not real good at putting attributions on the songs to say where they came from if I hadn’t worked them out for myself (I usually use Chordify or Riffstation as a base then try to add in the bells and whistles for myself or with help from proper musicians).

But then people started to share around the book and so I ended up creating this website to manage it a bit better.

These days I try to make sure that I put a proper attribution in and contact the club or person for permission but a lot of my old stuff that may be a full copy of a song from another site or where my song is based on another version but with some mods doesn’t have this attribution.

For this I apologise and would be delighted if you thought you should have recognition that you contact me and I will add in a link to your club.

I am also adding back into the site the list of thanks for the clubs that have in some way added to the book.

  1. Please note that Bedford Ukulele Group has transformed into Ukulele Bedford and its website is now http://www.ukulelebedford.co.uk Have a riffle through some of our songbooks and you will find a few tunes that you don’t have in your otherwise splendid list. Fill your boots, as we say in these parts.
