Changes to site recently
Haven’t been updating very often lately but here are some of the site changes:
Improvement to scroll on a song that supports the keyboard arrow keys (as well as mouse)
Arrow left – slow down scroll
Arrow right – speed up scroll
Arrow down – pause scroll
Arrow up – resume scroll
Improvement in the Roman page (better support for flat chords) that you get in a New Tab when you click on Layout – Roman/Nash.
I was asked if I could also show a Nashville chord page (i.e using the standard numbers (1,2,5- etc) rather than the Roman numbers (iv, IV, V etc)
If you click on the Layout – Roman/Nash now you will see the Roman page. On that page is a menu item Nashville. Click on that and your Roman page is converted to a Nashville page
Easy way to share songs to others:
People (e.g. Group leaders) often want to send a modified version of one of their songs in their Favourites to other people.
You have been able to share Favourites but that means that the people wanting to see the share have to be logged in and define who they are sharing from – can be a bit complicated for lots of the users of the site
So now I have updated the system to make this easier – the person who wants to send out a song to others just has to right click on a song in Favourites and “Copy Link”. They can then paste that link (and others if wanted) into an email and send that out. The receiver can then click on the link (no need to be logged in) and the song will display.
Added the ability to change the text colour in a song. You wrap the text (in the EDIT window) in the following
{tcr} – red {etc}
{tco} – darkorange {etc}
{tcr} – red {etc}
{tcg} – seagreen {etc}
{tcl} – grey {etc}
{tcb} – royalblue {etc}
I will be changing this to the standard {texcolour: colour} at some time in the next year when I have the time
Just added a new instrument – C Tuning Banjo – now there may be a few chord problems – if you find one let me know and I’ll fix as soon as I can. Not likely to be adding any more instruments – just too hard!!!!!!!!!
OK – if you change the key on a song and then change the instrument the key change now follows to the new instrument.
REMEMBER though that other changes to the song (chords, lyrics etc) do not follow if you change instruments
To force a new page where you want it when you create a PDF or Word document, you can add a {np} directive (using EDIT) at the position in the song where you want the split.
A checkbox has been added to the Files Menu to allow you to specify that the Song Title should appear at the top of the new Page after a {np} directive.
With more people logging in it has become obvious that some way to be reminded of your username is needed. I have added a Username Reminder onto the Login page. You will need to enter your email address and the username associated with that email will be emailed (using the email address provided)
One small issue with the songs is that it is very hard to start any line with spaces. My code automatically removes spaces at the start of a line. And now that is there I can’t remove it in case people rely on that
To get around that if you put the directive {nc} and the start of any line you can add as many spaces after that as you like and they should be honoured. Bit clunky as you need one at the start of every line but that may be improved in the future
I have added a new small feature to the favourite screen. There is a checkbox next to “Remove Table of Contents and Page Numbers in Songbooks”. Click on the checkbox before you create a Songbook or Lyrics Songbook and there will be no page numbers on the pages and no table of contents. There will still be a cover page
Norton Safeweb, or someone that is using Norton appears to have it in for ozbcoz.com and is constantly marking the site as dangerous.I put in disputes and then Norton changes the categorisation to safe for a short while and then re categorises it as dangerous.
I have been told that now, to one user of the site they have stood by their categorisation (without explaining why).
I firmly believe that Norton SafeWeb is unfit for purpose and should stop using their “bot” to accuse valid web sites of being dangerous (or at least explain why it is dangerous so that web site owners can do a reasonable job of disputing Norton’s lies!!)
Hi Jim,I hope you’re well? Thank you for the fantastic site! I wonder if you would consider either adding in the {chordcolour} option? Or a choice of more overall Chord Colours? For instance (and purely a personal preference based on reading in lower lighting :-), I like to use the darker red something like FireBrick #B22222 but obviously others may have a their preferences :-).
Many thanks, David
I’ll have a think on it David
