Recent Enhancement to Ozbcoz site

There have been some enhancements recently. These have been announced on the Facebook Page ( https://www.facebook.com/ukulelesongbook/ – if you haven’t Liked it then it may be useful to do so )

  1. Save order of Favourites – allows you to save the order so if you go elsewhere and come back then the order is preserved. This applies across devices. I use this when I start to create a club songbook then I can add songs later and drag into the right place
  2. Use touch enabled devices like Android Tablets or iPads to be used to re-order songs in Favourites list – not just desktops as in the past
  3. The moveable EDIT window in the Song program is back but now can’t be dragged off the page
  4. You can create a “Lyrics” txt file so you can then easily copy the file into an alternative editor (like Word if that is your want)
  5. You have the option to print the song title in the header line – this is useful if you have a multi page song and get pages muddled. If you use in conjunction with numbering the pages of the PDF then that should keep things in order
  6. A new skin has been added to the site – hope it’s nicer than the old one
    1. The PDF/Img menu item has been changed to Files.
    2. Some of the Layout Options relating to PDFs have been moved to the File dropdown
    3. The Layout drop down is still scrollable so if you don’t see the item then scroll down
    4. There is a new Create Text File option under Files
    5. There is a new VI Song Button(on the top of the page) on the songs page that shows a Visually Impaired version of the song that is easier for screen readers to make sense of (chords are shown as where fingers go and the name of the chord is spelled out) – click on the Base Song button when in the VI Song to return to the standard song page
    6. The Transpose Menu Item has been split into Key (to change key) and Tuning (to change instrument)
    7. The “hamburger” menu for Mobiles is no more – instead the menu items that wouldn’t fit on the phone are removed from the Menu line
    8. Default Settings has a new option to allow you to open Favourites in the instrument you were in when you save the song as a Favourite – note this could end up with a mixed instrument songbook if you create one !

Mobiles should work a lot more smoothlyThe old iPad (iOS 9.3.5 max level) now works ok – but I can’t guarantee it will continue – but I will try

And new Songbooks came out last month (May 2021)

  1. thank you for this wonderful website & song book. we have been using it for a long time and finally decided that we ought to make a contribution & donation. it is about time!

    1. That’s really nice of you! Really kind that you want to support the site like that!

      Thanks

  2. Thanks for all your work. This site is great!
However I’ve had an issue since the last update.
I often use symbols like [G/] to indicate a single strum of [G]. I get a message about not recognising the chord, which is fine.
BUT, since the last update, this seems to mess up the PDF creator option. When I click on Files/Create new PDF, the blue dots just keep on circling around. Creating an image works fine. Though the title sometimes comes out in italics.
I this something you can fix?
    Thanks.

    1. The problem is that when the site creates a PDF the first thing is that it creates the page again using pretty much the same code as the main site. So in the background it raises an alert with the invalid chord which never gets answered. Perhaps you could do what I do and show the slash outside the chord e.g. [G]//?

    2. Fixed now – in the future I may be able to allow the slash after the chord and so allow it to transpose – but may take a while

    3. I think this site is really great! There are some really fantastic features, & options that You can’t find on other sites! “I Myself”, have been playing for about 25 Years now, & I’ am a Multi- Instrumentalist/Lead Vocalist, & I also teach Guitar/Bass Guitar/& Vocals! And My point is NOT to brag, but to compliment You Sir on such a FANTASTIC Site, that is SO, SO User Friendly, that even I utilize it very often! I wanted to ask You if You could PLEASE, PLEASE add some Billy Joel Songs? I’m actually very good Friends with Billy’s current Rhythm Guitarist/Back-up Vocalist Mike Delguidice! Whom WAS, & STILL IS The Leader of {“BIG SHOT” } THE “ONLY” BILLY JOEL ENDORSED TRIBUTE BAND IN THE WORLD! AND ALSO FEATURES 90% Of the Current Billy Joel Band, & has in the past had many ORIGINAL Joel Band Members including Drummer Liberty Devitto, Guitarist Russell Javors, & Saxaphonist Ritchie Canntata! AGAIN, I say this NOT to brag, but to say that Your Site is SO GOOD, that even Pro-Musicians can find it very helpful! THANK YOU AGAIN SIR! Cheers!

      1. Excellent – so pleased you like the site and find it useful!!!! I already have 7 Billy Joel songs up but am happy to put some more up – Already up are :

        We Didn’t Start The Fire
        Just The Way You Are
        Uptown Girl
        My Life

        Jim

  3. I am using a chromebook and I can’t see how to create a songbook or to view my favorites. Any ideas?

    1. Are you logged in?
Once logged in go to the Song index (Songs on menu) . Click on the heart to show favourites and in that screen you can select favourites and make a songbook

      Jim
