Sharing Favourites
Setting up to share your favourites
Provided you are logged in and your favourites are centralised you can now let other people see and copy/open your favourites. This is a read only exercise as any person retrieving your favourites can open them or add them to their own favourites but has no way of changing them in your favourites.
To share you need to set up a “sharing alias” that you can pass on to others. This could be the same as your username but some people have an email address or other personal thing as a username and may wish to specify something different as an alias
To setup an alias go to your member profile by clicking on your username at the top of any song page, the song index page or the favourites page. When you get there you can click on the “Share My Favourites” link and this will allow you to create or modify your sharing alias. Once it is created then people that know the alias will be able to access you Favourites
You can also follow the link on the Favourites page to update/add your alias
Setting up to get favourites from another person
If you have been given an alias that you have been invited to share from then setting that up is quite simple.
Click on your username at the top of any song page, the song index page or the favourites page. When you get there you can click on the “Share From” link and this will allow you to create or modify who you are sharing from.
You can also follow the link on the Favourites oage to add/update the person you share from
How to get the Favourites from the person sharing
If you have setup your “Sharing From” then a new Menu item will be shown allowing you to retrieve your shared favourites. Click on that and the screen will show the favourites and allow you to merge them into a songbook, add them to your favourites or simply open them
I hope this is useful . If you have problems contact me via email from the site or through my Facebook page : https://www.facebook.com/ukulelesongbook/

This is a great Idea Jim et all, Love the work you do!
Thanks for that Joegh š
Thank you SOOO much for putting this all together!! With the quarantine, I decided to finally make my dad proud and learn how to play the guitar.. well the guitalele anyway! My dad has played the guitar, the piano and sang his entire life. My sister and I sing but never took to instruments. Iām 35 years old so my fingers are having a hard time.. especially with signs of arthritis kicking in. To make things for difficult, there arent too many easy to follow guitalele instructions available. But these are absolutely amazing!
My pleasure Jan
Firstly thank you for this wonderful collection you have put together. Is there a method whereby I can put together several different songbooks with the same features as the original such as ability to change key, page set out like location of chords? This would be a wonderful asset when having different groups to play with
If you add songs to your Favourites then the layout of the song is also stored with the favourite (including transpose, font size etc etc). So then When you open the favourites index you can click on a song and when it opens you can see it as it was when you saved it but also you can make further changes.
You can also select songs of the list and create a PDF songbook of the selected songs
I hope this covers what you wanted ?
Jim
I have a weekly zoom play along with several members of my group. I would like to publish a weekly playlist on our website and facebook page and my meetup page for the Southeast Ukers. Is that OK by you. Most people know of your website, and having a playlist helps my uker friends be able to practice before we play on Sunday!
Thanks for your wonderful website and everything on it. It is so user friendly, and I love that I can scroll the songs and change the key!
Diane
Sure – no problem. One thing we do in a couple of Uke groups I am in is to do a similar thing but also se the favourites system to create a PDF songbook and have that available for those that have issues getting to the site during a zoom
